Sparkling golf matched the sunshine conditions as the cream of the world’s young golfing talent dazzled in the prestigious U.S. Kids Golf European Championship.

Competitors from no less than eight different countries – including the small central American nation of Guatemala – scooped European Championship titles, reflecting both the growth and spread of junior golf throughout the world.

Best round of the tournament was the last round, seven under par 65 carded by Philipp Matlari from Germany in the boys 12 age group while Liverpool’s Eloise Healey, Samantha Fuller from Kingston-upon-Thames and Monet Flores (Guatemala) each won their third European title in a row.  Frank Olav Garber (USA) also retained his European Championship crown.

But the highlight of the championships was the three holes-in-one scored by Kristjan Vojteh Berkelca, Lucy Walton and Lewis Reid over three different courses.

The competition – played over Gullane No. 2, Gullane No. 3, Craigielaw Golf Club and Longniddry Golf Club – was organised by the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation, which aims to promote the game of golf to young players and their families around the world.

ELPG unphased by Google housing plans

Solicitors with a legal group which handles almost a quarter of all house sales in Edinburgh say they are unfazed by news that internet giant Google may move into the property market.

The ELPG is made up of five leading property solicitors which account for around 25% of house sales through the respected ESPC.

John Lints, senior partner at ELPG member firm, the Lints Partnership, said property experts in Scotland would be less worried about the arrival of the internet search giant than those south of the Border.

He added: “The market here in Scotland has always been significantly different from England. South of the border there is a far greater network of estate agency only businesses and they may be worried about a free Google portal.”

Eagle Couriers heat treatment

Eagle Couriers heat treatment

Scotland’s leading independent courier firm has once again proved its expert credentials after saving a customer’s blushes during a recent overseas delivery.

Staff at Eagle Couriers were contacted to deliver a special package from Edinburgh to California, but realised that the wooden box due to be shipped out had not been properly treated and tested to allow it to pass through American customs.

Under U.S. import and export laws, all packages and cargo crates have to be specially heat treated to ISPM15 standard. If they have not been suitably treated, they are sent back to the senders – meaning that sensitive deliveries do not reach their intended recipients in time.
